WALLACE & CREW WONDER WHAT'S IN STORE FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE
-Miller Lite Team Penske Driver Rusty Wallace Calls For Major Changes After This Race-

LOUDON, N.H. (Sept. 10, 2002) -- Miller Lite Team Penske driver Rusty Wallace readily admits that he doesn't know what to expect in this weekend's trip back to New Hampshire International Speedway, but he has a solid picture of what he expects there for the track's first race of 2003.

"Major, major changes," Wallace says when asked about what he expects at the Loudon, N.H., track prior to next July's New England 300. "They need to get started with the project as soon as they can after we run there on Sunday. They're gonna' have to come in there and bulldoze the place. They're going to have to rebuild the track.reconstruct the turns. They need to come in there and put some banking in the turns and make it a permanent fix, not just the band-aid-type approach that's been going on there for the last couple of seasons.

Rusty's Rundown: Loudon

What to watch for

You want to watch for the new track there. Mr. Bahre has worked real hard on Turns 3 and 4. The track has had a lot of time to season and cure up and I think we've had one race on it already.

I think a lot of the guys understand what line to run there for qualifying and all that. After qualifying and the practices, you're going to watch to see if the track holds up and if we can run all around the track.

Last time was not too good

The last time we were there, the track was good in most spots. We could pass both high and low in Turns 1 and 2. But, Turns 3 and 4 just got so built up by tire rubber, dirt and stuff that we found ourselves running on the new part of the racetrack.

To be quite honest, I know the new groove was created to do more passing, but when we got down on there, you feel like the car is leaning the wrong way. It was a rough one, the last race was, I hope it's not like that this time.

I really think what needs to happen is that he needs to reshape the corners and put more banking in the racetrack. Actually, a lot of work needs to be done on the bottom lane.
